The problem: The appropriate role of industry at academic medical centers is controversial and the interdependent role of these groups is little understood. Academia is well-suited for the basic scientific research on the fundamental mechanisms of disease, while industry is uniquely designed to translate scientific discoveries into commercially viable therapies. One cannot fulfill the ultimate goal of making new medicines available to patients and improvingthe health of populations without the other.
The solution: This brochure and an accompanying slide presentation were developed for use by Pfizer medical personnel with customers at academic medical centers. The brochures were also distributed to those centers so that they could be incorporated into their curriculum.
